For many, a logo is just a piece of branding. But at Hello World, the “B” on our website is a compass.
This March, we joined thousands of companies worldwide to celebrate B Corp Month. This year’s theme focused on the B Corp logo as a marker of commitment: a signal that while every B Corp is different, we all share a common goal: using business as a force for good.

Here is a look back at how we spent the month moving “from promise to proof.”
What is B Corp Month?
B Corp Month is an annual campaign powered by B Lab to build awareness about the movement. It is a time to educate the world on why transforming our economic system matters. From the “Behind the B” campaign in 2022 to this year’s focus on our collective commitment, the goal remains the same: balancing purpose and profit for all stakeholders (customers, workers, the environment, and our community right here in Portland).
Standards Worth Standing For
We kicked off the month by debunking a major myth: that B Corp is just a marketing badge.
In reality, the certification process is a rigorous assessment of every facet of our business. For us, accountability shows up in the code. As our founder Dan Linn recently shared, being a B Corp changes how we operate daily. We do not just “do” B Corp; we live it through:
- Accessibility Baked Into Every Build: Making the web usable for everyone isn’t an “add-on”: it is our baseline.
- Ethical Data Practices: We prioritize user privacy and data sovereignty over easy shortcuts.
- Sustainable Workload Management: We protect our team from burnout because a healthy business requires healthy humans. We shoot for a 30-hour work week and consider that our baseline for full-time.
Ethical Development vs Cutting Corners
One of our favorite discussions this month focused on the myth that “ethical development costs more.” We believe the opposite: cutting corners is what truly costs more. Responsible development protects your team, your clients, and your long-term growth. At Hello World, we practice “Better is Better” by:
- Refactoring code for longevity instead of rushing to a finish line.
- Saying no to unnecessary features that bloat a project.
- Recommending simpler, more sustainable solutions.

Our Oregon Community
While the B Corp movement is global, its impact is felt most deeply at the local level. We are proud members of On Purpose Oregon (formerly B Local PDX), a nonprofit dedicated to supporting Oregon-based companies that prioritize social and environmental impact.
Being part of this community allows us to collaborate with other purpose-driven organizations in our backyard. You can see the full list of inspiring local businesses we stand alongside on the On Purpose Oregon Members page.
The B is Just the Beginning
As B Corp Month 2026 comes to a close, we are reminded that no company is perfect. The B Corp movement isn’t about reaching a final destination of “perfection”: it is about a commitment to continuous improvement.
The “B” isn’t just about what we have done in the past; it is about what we are working on next. Whether it is improving our environmental footprint in Portland or finding new ways to support our clients’ missions, we are proud to be part of “Gen B.”
“The B isn’t branding. It’s accountability. And accountability shows up in the work.”
