Drupal migrations
Drupal 7 reached end-of-life in 2025. Sites still on D7 need a plan. We move Drupal sites to Drupal 10 or Drupal 11 with zero downtime, preserved URLs, and content migrations that survive audit. Every migration includes a phased rollout and a documented pre- and post-launch state.
How we approach it
Zero-downtime by default
Multi-day cutovers with fallback plans. Content, URLs, and analytics survive the move.
Contrib mapped, not carried
Each D7 module is mapped to its D10 or D11 equivalent, replaced, or retired. Abandoned modules get retired, not ported.
Content model rebuilt to fit
We treat the migration as a chance to fix the content model. Not to carry the old shape forward.
URL parity and SEO continuity
Every URL you had on D7 resolves on D10 or D11. Redirects are tested against your actual traffic before launch.
What's included
- Content audit and content model rebuild
- Module inventory and D10 / D11 mapping (contrib + custom)
- Custom module rewrites where contrib gaps exist
- Views, blocks, and taxonomy migration
- User and role migration
- Theme rebuild (or move to a modern base theme)
- URL parity and 301 redirect map
- Analytics continuity (GA4, Matomo, and others)
- Accessibility audit against the new site
- Staged rollout with production cutover plan
Who it's for
Sites still on Drupal 7
Post-EOL, security patches are limited and unofficial. A move to D10 or D11 is due.
Sites on Drupal 8 or 9
Both are past end-of-life. The path forward is D10 or D11.
Teams considering Drupal to WordPress
We do that migration too. See our WordPress vs Drupal comparison and case studies.
What it costs
Drupal migrations typically land between $60K and $200K depending on content volume, custom module count, and integration complexity. Discovery scopes the work before we quote.
Common questions
How long does a D7 to D11 migration take?
Typical timeline is four to nine months from Discovery to launch. Content-heavy or integration-heavy sites take longer.
What happens to our custom Drupal 7 modules?
We audit each one. Some map cleanly to D10 or D11. Some are better replaced with contrib. Some get retired. The audit is the first deliverable.
Can we improve the content model during migration?
Yes, and we usually recommend it. A migration is the best time to fix the shape of your content, not carry legacy problems forward.
What about our theme?
Most D7 themes do not port. We rebuild the theme against Drupal's current theme system or move you to a base theme suited to your needs.
